In accordance with the plan of regional events dedicated to the Day of State Symbols of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a solemn meeting was held on June 4, 2025, in the conference hall of the Zhambyl Regional Center for the Prevention and Control of Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome. During the event, O. Abdikerimova, Head of the Organizational and Methodological Department, congratulated the staff on the holiday, emphasizing that respect for state symbols is the patriotic duty of every citizen. It was noted that the State Symbols – the Flag, Emblem, and Anthem – are symbols of our country's independence and integrity, and their history and significance were discussed. The event was organized with the aim of increasing patriotism and fostering a respectful attitude towards state symbols. Almaty Blood Center Medics Undergo HIV Training
On June 2nd, staff from the Almaty City Center for AIDS Prevention and Control conducted a seminar on HIV prevention for medics of the city's Blood Center. Participants were presented with key regulatory documents from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Almaty City Public Health Department concerning the organization of HIV prevention work in medical institutions. During the seminar, various aspects related to HIV were discussed. Participants learned what HIV infection is, how it is transmitted, the stages of the disease, and myths that cause unfounded fear. Topics of pre-exposure and post-exposure prophylaxis, as well as issues of preventing stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV, garnered particular attention. Modern approaches to HIV testing were reviewed at the seminar. Trainers conducted a master class on rapid HIV testing with mandatory counseling. An important element of the seminar was the discussion of ethical aspects of working with patients affected by HIV. Participants discussed the necessity of maintaining medical confidentiality and respectful treatment of every patient. The topic of interdepartmental cooperation was also addressed. Representatives from the AIDS Center emphasized the importance of collaboration for effective HIV prevention and treatment. Effectiveness of HIV Prevention in PHC Organizations
In the Abai region, a Coordination Council of the Health Department was held, at which issues of implementing measures to prevent HIV infection and an analysis of late-stage HIV infection cases were discussed. The meeting was chaired by Aysulu Saimova, Acting Head of the Health Department. Chief physicians of medical organizations in the region and specialists from the Regional Center for HIV Prevention participated in the council's work. Asylkhan Adilzhanov, Director of the Regional Center for HIV Prevention, presented a report analyzing the ongoing HIV prevention activities, which highlighted the role of primary healthcare (PHC) organizations in the early detection and prevention of HIV infection. A detailed analysis of activities was conducted for each PHC organization, outlining identified problems and proposing solutions. "The main preventive measures to curb HIV infection should be carried out at the PHC level; timely initiated treatment depends on the timely diagnosis of the disease," emphasized Asylkhan Adilzhanov. The information from Zhanar Turarova, Head of the Epidemiological Surveillance Department of the Regional Center for HIV Prevention, was dedicated to late-stage HIV infection cases in 2025. In her report, Zhanar Turarova pointed out typical mistakes made by PHC doctors and clarified the procedure for HIV testing based on clinical indications. All presented reports sparked active discussion. At the end of the meeting, a protocol decision of the Coordination Council was adopted, aimed at improving the effectiveness of preventive measures to prevent HIV infection in the region. Within the framework of the world tobacco-free day, which is celebrated annually on May 31 at the initiative of the World Health Organization, an information and preventive campaign aimed at combating tobacco addiction and promoting a healthy lifestyle was held in Aktobe. Specialists of the regional AIDS Center also joined this campaign. The event was held with the support of the Regional Health Department, the Regional Center for mental health, as well as youth health centers at City polyclinics. The main events were organized on the square of the Central Stadium named after Kobylandy batyr. The main task of the event was to inform the population about the dangers of smoking, including electronic cigarettes and vapes, as well as to encourage smoking citizens to give up the bad habit. - "Our goal is not only to talk about the dangers of tobacco, but also to promote a healthy lifestyle. A healthy lifestyle is the maintenance of health through proper nutrition, physical education, moral and rejection of bad habits, including the Prevention of HIV infection. Free consultations of narcologists, psychologists and healthy lifestyle doctors, distribution of information booklets and memos, a flash mob with the participation of college students and activists and the exhibition "What do you know about HIV infection?"a question-and-answer contest was organized on the topic:" Many participants of the campaign admitted that they had learned a lot of new things and reflected on their health. - "Today I took part in the competition and answered questions on the topic of HIV infection.
