Expanded meeting of UNAIDS

Expanded meeting of the joint United Nations Group on HIV/AIDS with the invitation of national partners, representatives of international organizations and communities took place on March 11 in Almaty.

 

At the initiative of the CNDDIZ, the participants discussed HIV prevention projects implemented in Kazakhstan in 2024-2025.

Opening the meeting, B. Baiserkin, Director of the KNCDIZ, noted:

- We plan to hold such meetings once a quarter in order to know about projects implemented by international and non-governmental organizations. It is important to monitor the progress of activities and the strengthening of individual areas that affect the achievement of UN Goals 95-95-95.

The participants got acquainted with the UBRAF mechanism and the plans of the UN agencies for 2024-2025 - UNFPA, UNESCO, UNICEF, UNOS and UNDP of the CCM Secretariat, as well as PEPFAR, ICAP, CAPLA.

From presentations by NGO representatives, participants learned about the implementation of projects related to the mentoring program for women with HIV, ensuring equal rights and opportunities, working with youth, a model of prevention among migrants and others.

Among the priority areas discussed are HIV testing, the N=N campaign, PREP, and countering stigma and discrimination against PLHIV.
