HIV prevention work in penitentiary institutions is carried

In order to prevent the spread of HIV and raise awareness of this infection among personnel and persons held in penal institutions, a set of anti-epidemiological measures is carried out on an ongoing basis by specialists from the Almaty Region AIDS Center.

          April 16, 2024, in correctional institutions No. 10 in the village.Zhaugashty and No. 12 in Zarechny held lectures, provided visiting rooms with condoms, booklets, brochures and leaflets on the topic of HIV prevention. Information was provided on the epidemiological situation in the Almaty region for 2023. The routes and factors of transmission, and situations when HIV is not transmitted, were clearly demonstrated. In addition, a session was held to raise awareness about drug addiction, viral hepatitis and HIV infection. More than 746 investigative arrestees, 90 personnel, and 22 medical workers were covered.
