Meeting with the population of the Karasai district

In the Karasai district, with the participation of the commission on affairs of minors and protection of their rights under the akimat of the Almaty region, a meeting was held on the prevention of HIV infection.

In the cultural center of the village.Ushkonyr, during the organization of the Almaty Regional AIDS Center and the Karasai Clinical Multidisciplinary Central District Hospital, a meeting with the population was organized. Deputy akim of the district AtshabarovRustamAmirgaliuly made an opening speech. Deputy Head of the Education Department of the Almaty Region Isagulova G.T. provided information on the manifestation of stigma and discrimination against HIV positive people.

An infectious disease doctor from the Karasai district hospital spoke about the clinical manifestations of HIV, and specialists from the AIDS center spoke about the epidemiological situation, pre- and post-exposure prophylaxis. The district narcologist made a report on the use of drugs and psychoactive substances by minors and the spread of HIV infection among injection drug users.

In 2023, 41 new cases were registered in the Karasai district, most of which were detected at the age of 20-39 years.

300 people attended the meeting, 98 were examined using express testing.
