A Campaign “Know Your Status – Protect Your Loved Ones!” Held in Zhambyl Region

On June 6, a large-scale informational and preventive campaign titled “Know Your Status – Protect Your Loved Ones!” was organized by the Zhambyl Regional AIDS Prevention and Control Center at Victory Park in the city of Taraz. The main goal of the event was to promote a culture of health among residents and young people, prevent HIV infection, raise awareness about the importance of early diagnosis, and encourage individuals to take responsibility for their own health.

The campaign was attended by Serzhan Nazarbek, Head of the Health Department of the Akimat of Zhambyl Region, representatives of the mass media, regional television journalists, specialists from the Youth Resource Center, healthcare professionals, as well as residents and young people of the city.
Opening the event, Serzhan Nazarbek emphasized the importance of information and awareness-raising activities in HIV prevention and spoke about the current epidemiological situation in the region. In his speech, he stressed that everyone, especially young people, should take a responsible approach to their health and undergo regular medical check-ups.
During the campaign, participants received comprehensive information about HIV transmission routes and prevention measures. Residents also had the opportunity to receive professional consultations from an epidemiologist, infectious disease specialist, dermatovenerologist, and psychologist, as well as answers to their questions. More than 100 people took advantage of these consultation services.
Free and confidential HIV rapid testing was organized for all interested participants. Residents and young people showed great interest in learning their HIV status. A total of 321 people underwent rapid HIV testing during the event. The first 100 participants received ice cream as an incentive gift. The campaign also featured national and sports games, as well as educational quizzes on HIV prevention. Participants actively answered questions and took part in competitions. Winners and the most active participants received commemorative prizes and gifts.
The cultural program attracted considerable interest as well. Guests enjoyed live musical performances that created a festive atmosphere and provided a positive experience for everyone present. Young people actively participated in all activities, underwent testing, joined games and competitions, and gained valuable information about maintaining good health and preventing HIV infection.
The campaign served as an important platform for increasing public awareness of HIV, promoting healthy lifestyles, and fostering a responsible attitude toward personal health.
