In the lead-up to the New Year holidays, from December 22 to 29, Open House Days were held at the Kazakh Scientific Center of Dermatology and Infectious Diseases.
During these days, citizens of Kazakhstan, residents of Almaty, and guests of the city were able to undergo free and confidential preventive examinations using PCR tests.
As a reminder, a PCR test is a highly accurate laboratory diagnostic method that allows for the early detection of infections such as chlamydia, gonorrhea, herpes, and others—even before clinical symptoms appear.
One of the key advantages of this method is its comprehensive nature: a single test can detect several infections at once, making diagnostics more convenient and effective.
During the Open House Days, consultations with experienced specialists of the KSCDID were also available on issues of reproductive health, prevention of latent and chronic infectious diseases, as well as maintaining men’s and women’s health and overall quality of life. Sensitive topics were discussed in a comfortable and trusting environment. Doctors provided detailed answers to questions, explained test results, and gave individualized recommendations to each patient.
Here are just a few opinions from participants of the Open House Days.
Aliya, 42, resident of Almaty:
— Taking care of my health is not an empty phrase for me. Every year before the New Year, I undergo a full check-up to start the new year healthy and confident. Today I also completed the necessary examinations. Thank you for the good organization of the event and the attentive attitude of the specialists.
Nurlan, 32, resident of Shymkent:
— I am in Almaty on a business trip. I saw an announcement on social media and decided to get checked. I liked that there were no queues—everything was confidential, fast, free, and carried out in a friendly atmosphere. It would be great if such screenings were held more often.
For the staff of the KSCDID, holding the Open House Days became an important step in raising public awareness about the need for regular prevention of infectious diseases. Such events make it possible to detect diseases in a timely manner, reduce the risk of complications, and foster a responsible attitude toward one’s own health.
