Youth action on HIV prevention was held in Kokshetau

Events dedicated to the first of December – World AIDS Day - are nearing their logical conclusion in the Akmola region.

The main chord of the entire information campaign dedicated to this date was the annual large-scale youth action.

So, on November 30, 2023, the final event was held in the Kokshetau Recreation Center, where about 600 young boys and girls from schools, colleges and universities of the regional center gathered.

On this day, almost everyone could be met at the Palace of Culture with a red ribbon on their chest, the main symbol of the fight against AIDS. It is encouraging that young people were actively involved and participated in the action before the main part of the event began.

Some left their wishes and words of support for people living with HIV on an improvised heart, while others, looking at the booklets offered by the organizers, checked each other's awareness of HIV infection.

It is worth saying that right there, in the lobby, there was an opportunity for everyone to get tested for HIV by the express method and find out their status. More than 50 people have used this option.

Next, a concert program with creative performances and useful information about HIV awaited all participants.

The youth action was opened by the chief physician of the center Kurmanbek Burmaganov, who spoke about the slogan "Community Leadership" chosen by UNAIDS this year and thanked the youth for their interest and solidarity with such an important public date, wishing them health, excellent studies and freedom from stereotypes associated with HIV infection.

The volunteer of the center Ibrahim Oziev, Deputy chief physician of the Regional Mental Health Center Galiya Mukhamedyarova, chief specialist of the Department of Guardianship, Guardianship and educational work of the Department of Education Aigul Magavina, correspondent of Akmolinskaya Pravda Natalia Yakovleva and psychologist of the Center for Children and Youth Creativity Arman were also awarded letters of thanks for their contribution to the prevention of HIV infection the city of Shchuchinsk Galina Anisimova. 

It should be recalled that from November 20 to December 1, a decade dedicated to World AIDS Day is taking place in the Akmola region.
