The head of the epidemiological department of the AIDS Center Zh.Turarova, the infectious disease doctor R.Alshinbekova spoke online.

“World AIDS Day is celebrated annually on December 1. In 2020, the world's attention is focused on the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the lives and well-being of people. COVID-19 has clearly demonstrated that during any pandemic, the safety of everyone depends on the safety of everyone, ”said Turarova.

Zh.Turarova presented statistical data on the prevalence of HIV infection in the region and the city of Semey. She informed that in Semey this year all thematic events will be held from 16 to 22 November, taking into account the epidemiological situation, mainly online.

The infectious disease doctor R. Alshinbekova spoke about the success in the treatment of HIV infection. “Today HIV infection is a controlled disease. Taking ART drugs, patients live a quality and fulfilling life. Antiretroviral therapy also plays an important role in HIV prevention, ”she said.
