The discussion focuses on Hansen's disease and dermatoses

January 26, 2024

Hansen's disease and dermatoses became an urgent topic of discussion on January 26 at a scientific and practical seminar at the KNCDIZ.

Opening the event, A. Abishev, Deputy director of the KNCDIZ, noted that today it is very important for doctors to have knowledge about Hansen's disease and do everything to prevent leprophobia.

Doctors, scientists, residents got acquainted with the signs, characteristics, condition of Hansen's disease (leprosy, leprosy) in the world and the country, as well as the history of its development.

Leprologists from the Kazakh Republican leprosarium S. Eginshibaev and T. Abubakir told about the situation with Hansen's disease in Kazakhstan. Doctors noted that no new cases of the disease have been registered in Kazakhstan for six years. Among the patients identified over the past 40 years, there are no children and adolescents, which is typical for fading foci of leprosy. In the leprosarium, patients receive all the necessary assistance, there is equipment and trained staff.

The topic "Laboratory diagnostics of infections of the 21st century" raised many questions among the participants. The discussion reports were presented by the residents of the first year of study at the KNCDIZ: N. Guseinov - "Leishmaniasis" and A. Yerezhep - "Pigmented disorders in differential diagnosis".

At the end of the scientific and practical seminar, the transfer of a charitable parcel to the Kazakh Republican Leprosarium took place. The new TV and sweets will be very useful to the patients of the institution. We thank everyone who responded and made a charitable contribution.

The event was held as part of the World Leprosy Day.
