According to the results of 2023, as a result of preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic measures in Kazakhstan, the death rate from AIDS decreased by 2 times compared to 2022.

Mother-to-child transmission of HIV has decreased by 2 times due to ongoing preventive measures.

 

For the treatment of people living with HIV, 5 more innovative antiretroviral drugs with high treatment efficiency have been introduced, which are included in the guaranteed volume of free medical care.

The number of clients receiving pre-contact prophylaxis to prevent infection of healthy people in contact with people living with HIV has increased 6 times.

The number of laboratories accredited for compliance with international standards ISO 15189-2015 of HIV prevention centers increased by another 3 and amounted to 12 laboratories, including the laboratory of the Kazakh Scientific Center for Dermatology and Infectious Diseases.

The use of rapid tests in mental health centers, narcologists' offices, PHC and non-governmental organizations is expanding to test key populations, partners of people living with HIV are being tested.

The preventive activities of non-governmental organizations in the field of HIV are being expanded by expanding the State social order. If in 2022 such work was carried out only in 4 regions by five non-governmental organizations, then in 2023 their number increased 3 times (14 organizations) in 10 regions of the country.
