On November 28, in Almaty, as part of the campaign for the World AIDS Day under the UNAIDS motto "Leadership to Communities", a mobile point was transferred to the Center for the Prevention and Control of AIDS in Almaty.

The mobile point is a special car manufactured at the Hyundai Com Trans Kazakhstan LLP plant in Almaty on the basis of Hyundai H350. It is equipped with equipment for the provision of services and testing for key population groups (REG), as well as people living with HIV (PLHIV), including those in correctional institutions. With the help of a mobile point, doctors together with NGO staff will be able to promptly deliver medicines to patients, conduct consultations, examinations that are necessary for monitoring treatment.

Representatives of the REAG will also have access to preventive programs (booklets, protective equipment and the opportunity to be tested for HIV) closer to their location. Every day, mobile teams will travel along the route agreed in advance with representatives of the REAG. At this point, each visitor is guaranteed confidentiality and anonymity.

The mobile point will allow the specialists of the Center for the Prevention and Control of AIDS, together with public organizations, to increase the coverage of REGN, PLHIV and their partners with preventive programs and medical services. This is very important for reducing new HIV cases, which are most often registered among key population groups," said Marat Tukeev, chief physician of the AIDS Center in Almaty.

The transfer of the mobile point was carried out by the project "Almaty model of HIV epidemic control". The aim of the project is to create and implement a sustainable, comprehensive, cost-effective urban program to control the HIV epidemic in Almaty. For three years, the project has been implementing innovative approaches in the prevention, testing and treatment of HIV infection. The project's services have already been received by more than 17 thousand representatives of the KGN, more than 11 thousand have been tested for HIV, of which more than 8 thousand have been tested on the basis of NGOs. 142 new cases of HIV infection were identified, of which 95% of people started treatment.

Thanks to the established close cooperation between state and non-governmental organizations, after the completion of the project, the mobile multidisciplinary team of specialists from the AIDS Center and NGOs will continue to provide a range of services for people living with HIV and key population groups," said Anna Deryabina, ICAP Regional Director in Eurasia.

The campaign dedicated to the World AIDS Day under the UNAIDS motto "Leadership to Communities" takes place in Kazakhstan from November 20 to December 1 in order to attract attention to NGOs and communities in overcoming HIV. Communities connect people with human-centered public health services, build trust, and innovate.
