ACTION AT GRES-1 IN EKIBASTUZ

Ekibastuz GRES-1 named after BulatNurzhanov held a large-scale action dedicated to World AIDS Day. Employees - power engineers, machinists, electric welders, managers, engineers, economists - gathered in the assembly hall of the enterprise.

UlzhanMubarakova, a doctor-epidemiologist of the Ekibastuz department of the HIV Center, told the participants about the objectives of the ongoing campaign "Leadership to Communities" in her presentation.More than sixty employees of GRES-1 learned a lot of new information: about the epidemiological situation in the region, ways of HIV transmission and what does not pose a threat to humans. The doctor drew attention to the fact that great expectations are placed on communities. If NGOs and communities lead the fight, results can be achieved.

The problem of HIV infection can affect everyone. That is why it is important for a person to know his/her HIV status and to be examined in time. Today this service is available, it is free of charge for all citizens.To date, more than 140 thousand people have been tested for HIV since the beginning of the year, which means that almost every sixth resident of the region knows about his or her HIV status.

The campaign at SDPP-1 ended with an express HIV test for employees at the medical center. The opportunity of confidential examination was provided for everyone. 25 employees of the enterprise together with their manager underwent this procedure.
