"Prevention of HIV infection in penitentiary institutions"

This was the name of the seminar, which took place on November 6 at institution 13. It was conducted by epidemiologists of the AIDS Center in Almaty - A. Alimbekova, A. Pervaeva, psychologist L. Muzgayeva and

the narcologist of the CPZ is A. Lyubushkin.

The trainers familiarized the participants with the main normative documents on HIV in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the epidemiological situation. Detailed information was given about the procedure for rapid HIV testing, the role of pre-test and post-test counseling. At the same time, psychosocial counseling can be carried out by doctors, nurses, social workers, consultants.

The doctors told about the algorithm of actions in case of an emergency and post-exposure prophylaxis, as well as why it is necessary to contact the AIDS Center no later than 72 hours for consultation and appointment of antiretroviral therapy.

The next important topic of the seminar is stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV. The trainers convinced the audience with concrete examples that these phenomena should not be in society, they negatively affect the epidsituation.

The final chord of the event was a quiz to increase the level of knowledge of the special agent on the topic: HIV infection, transmission routes and prevention.
