Kazakhstan approved the grant of the State Fund for HIV Prevention

At the meeting of the Country Coordinating Committee for Work with International Organizations on HIV Infection and Tuberculosis (CCC) on November 3, key aspects of the grant for funding from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria under the HIV component for 2024-2026 were discussed.

V. Dudnik, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Health, noted that the key areas of the grant are fully in harmony with the Roadmap for the implementation of measures to prevent HIV infection in the Republic of Kazakhstan and correspond to the priorities of civil society. GF funds should become a driver of measures to further reduce the prevalence of HIV.

The grant amount is in addition to government funding to strengthen health systems in the fight against HIV and is aimed at evidence-based programs for key population groups (REGS) in accordance with WHO, UNAIDS guidelines and taking into account the HIV surveillance situation in the country.

The purpose of the grant: to ensure the sustainability and continuity of services for testing and prevention of REM, treatment and adherence to it of people living with HIV (PLHIV).

Grant objectives:
- improve access to combined HIV prevention methods for people at increased risk of infection, including scaling up pre-contact prevention;
- Strengthen and expand HIV testing strategies and interventions adapted to the REAG, including community-based testing, using social networks, index and self-testing;
- Strengthen communication with HIV care and treatment services and strengthen support for treatment adherence;
- overcome barriers related to the issues of people's rights to health and gender inequality.

The grant will be implemented by the main recipient - the Kazakh Scientific Center of Dermatology and Infectious Diseases, the sub–recipient - the Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Mental Health, which is determined by the decision of the CCM, the sub–contractors - NGOs for work with REGN and PLHIV with technical support of regional centers for HIV prevention.

Within the framework of the grant, 4 NGOs will be involved in working with LMS in 3 regions, 8 NGOs in working with MSM in - 8 and 4 NGOs in 4 regions in working with PLHIV.
