From 04 to 06 September 2023, a working meeting was held in Geneva (Switzerland) to discuss the activities of the application for a grant from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria for 2024-2026 for the Republic of Kazakhstan aimed at preventing HIV infection.

The working meeting was attended by the director of KNCDIZ B. Bayserkin, employees of KNCDIZ, representatives of the IAF and the CCM.

The request for funding is fully consistent with the national priorities defined in the Roadmap "On the implementation of measures to prevent HIV infection in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2023-2026" and to achieve the goals 95-95-95:

- expanding HIV testing strategies tailored to key populations (including community-based testing, self-testing, social media testing, and index testing);

- expanding the scope of pre-contact prevention for people at increased risk of infection;

- expansion of the Harm Reduction program, including prevention of the use of new psychoactive substances;

- strengthening the capacity of non-governmental organizations, including community monitoring.

The request for funding fully complies with the recommendations of WHO, UNAIDS, GF and is aimed at both expanding existing programs and using innovative preventive interventions that have been successfully piloted in the country to enhance the impact on the epidemiological situation.
