The action in the Almaty region started in the city of Konaev

Actions dedicated to the World Day of Remembrance for those who died from AIDS began on May 17, 2023 in the city of Konaev, the center of the Almaty region.

Lazzat Abdukarimova, Head of the Prevention Department of the Almaty Regional AIDS Center, and Togzhan Myrzagulova, an epidemiologist, explained to the visitors of the Public Service Center the purpose and objectives of the campaign and distributed information and educational materials.

Also, as part of the action, a mobile trust point for the rapid detection of HIV infection stopped in front of the Public Service Center and conducted an express test for those who wished. As a result, 76 people got the opportunity to get free testing and find out their HIV status.

Also in the Central District Hospital of the Karasai district, an open day was organized. Local residents measured blood pressure and found out the content of sugar and cholesterol in the blood. They were also provided with information on HIV/AIDS from the epidemiologist Yerden Nurmagambetov, and were given consultations. 40 people underwent a salivary rapid test and found out about their HIV status. Also, 50 people received advice, 200 information and educational materials and 432 condoms were distributed.
