Cooperation continues

On May 16 at the KNCDIZ at a working meeting  Cooperation plans have been outlined with Mr. Ib Petersen, Deputy Executive Director for Management of UNFPA.

UNFPA is a long-standing partner of KNCDIZ. Joint projects, including the study of the prescription of HIV infection, increasing the capacity of employees of AIDS centers and youth health centers to overcome stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV and others, have had effective results.

At the meeting, the participants got acquainted with the HIV surveillance in Kazakhstan and the implementation of preventive programs.

For the first time this year, UNFPA joined the process of developing a country application for 2024-2026, which will be funded by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. As Mr. Ib Petersen assured the participants, UNFPA will continue to supply condoms and lubricants to Kazakhstan.

Cooperation will continue in the implementation of educational projects for the general population and key groups.

The meeting was attended by representatives of UNFPA: Ronnie Lindstrom, Raimbek Sisemaliev, Serik Tanirbergenov.
