Discussion of the GF grant application for 2024-2026

On March 15, in Almaty, employees of state (CNDDIZ, regional AIDS centers), international, non-governmental public organizations, members of the CCM, representatives of key groups discussed the grant application for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria from the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2024-2026.

The meeting was attended by international consultants, experts of the GF Tatiana Deshko and Ekaterina Boyko.

The grant application is an addition to the state funding for strengthening the health system in the fight against HIV and improving the epidemiological situation in order to mobilize national resources.

Based on the country's achievement of the goals of UNAIDS 95-95-95:
- 87 percent of people living with HIV know their status,
- 84 percent of them use ART,
- 87 percent have a reduced viral load,
in the coming years attention will be focused on the implementation of the first two 95.

To achieve the results, it is proposed to implement the following measures:
- strengthening the strategic approach to HIV prevention and testing,
- improvement of the approach to combined prevention methods for key groups (scaling and implementation of various methods of providing pre-contact prevention),
- expansion of the intervention strategy for HIV testing in medical institutions, self-testing, index, using social networks,
- Strengthen communication with HIV care, support and treatment services to strengthen commitment,
- Bringing national HIV treatment protocols in line with the latest WHO recommendations.

The participants made suggestions to supplement the application. Among them are an increase in the purchase of saliva tests for key population groups, improved treatment of migrants with HIV, the introduction of differentiated payments to outreach workers, training of doctors in PTAO offices, and others. According to the participants, the implementation of these and other resources will help the effectiveness of the future grant.
