From effective dialogue to action

In Almaty on February 2-3, representatives of state, international and non-governmental public organizations discussed topical issues of prevention, diagnosis and treatment of HIV infection, expansion of services, strengthening cooperation.

 The organizer, KNCDIZ, in partnership with the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, held a dialogue platform to strengthen interaction and partnership between the public and non-governmental sectors.

The participants noted that today the coverage of preventive programs is (percent) :

- LUIN - 60

- MSM - 20

HIV testing covers 80 percent of key population groups (REGS). 43% of HIV detection in the country is accounted for by representatives of the REAG. Almost four percent of new cases are recorded in the directions of NGOs.

The implementation of the indicators of the UNAIDS strategy 95-95-95 is at the beginning of this year:

- 87 percent of PLHIV know their status,

- 84% of them use ART,

- 87% of them have suppressed viral load.

The participants discussed the possibilities of expanding preventive services based on NGOs, barriers to the interaction of non-governmental organizations and key groups with AIDS centers, the contribution of NGOs to the popularization of pre-contact prevention. A special discussion was caused by the topic of strengthening sustainable financing mechanisms for HIV programs within the framework of the allocation of the state social order.

In the near future, it is planned to improve access to combined methods of expanding the prevention of HIV, hepatitis, and sexually transmitted infections. The focus is on expanding the scope of providing pre-contact prevention to all key population groups and HIV testing using modern approaches. It is planned to revise a number of regulatory documents, update guidelines, protocols for HIV treatment in accordance with the latest WHO recommendations.
