The results of work with DUIS for 2022 have been summed up

On January 13, the staff of the AIDS Center in Almaty, with the participation of representatives from city polyclinics 5, 9, 24 and DUIS, discussed the results of joint work for 2022.

The results of the joint work over the past year were presented to the participants by the acting head of the Epidemiological Department, B. Tabinova. She noted a tendency to reduce the detection of new cases of HIV infection in places of detention (MLS). If 38 of them were registered in 2021, then 25 in 2022. This is against the background of an increase in the number of HIV examinations.

The effectiveness of educational work has increased. Lectures for employees of the penitentiary system on the prevention of HIV infection were held three times more than in the previous year. If in 2020 416 people were covered by educational activities, then a year later – 471.

Over the past year, the staff of the AIDS Center in Almaty distributed more than 900 information and educational materials and more than two thousand condoms for people living with HIV.

Among the problems, the participants of the meeting focused on strengthening control over HIV testing, especially before the release of convicts.

Recommendations on chemoprophylaxis of tuberculosis were presented to the audience by the infectious disease doctor A.Alimbekova.

The participants of the meeting are faced with the task of providing an examination for the presence of HIV infection with pre- and post-test psychosocial counseling for all persons in the MLS: upon admission, six months later, before release, at the request of the convict.
