The necessary legislative changes and law enforcement practice in relation to people living with HIV (PLHIV) were discussed on November 9 in Astana at a round table organized by the public foundation Answer.
Among the participants of the round table are representatives of state, international, non-governmental organizations, PLHIV.
Abishev, Director of the KSCDIZ of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in his speech dwelled in detail on the actual problems of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in connection with HIV.
KSCDIZ, together with international experts and non-governmental organizations, has developed a draft Roadmap for the implementation of measures to prevent HIV infection in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2023-2026. In accordance with the document, it is planned to initiate amendments to the Code “On the health of the people and the healthcare system”, the Criminal Code, the Code “On Administrative Offenses” in terms of reducing stigma and discrimination for key populations and people living with HIV, as well as for refugees and foreign citizens temporarily residing on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan with HIV infection, paying contributions to the CSMI.
Abishev spoke about the proposed changes to other important legislative documents.
