When I found out about my illness 12 years ago, it was a huge shock for me. And I am sure that every person with HIV has experienced similar emotions. Discover

the fact that you have such a diagnosis is extremely difficult. Therefore, it is important that at this moment there are those who could support. Moreover, it is very important that these are real professionals – doctors, nurses, psychologists. Because at the very beginning, when even the closest ones do not know about your diagnosis (and some do not tell anyone about HIV all their lives), you are left alone with your disease.  Not only is it difficult psychologically... In addition, at this time there is a danger of reading incorrect information about HIV on the Internet, running into people there who will confuse.

As a result, you can lose years by starting the disease.

That is why it is so important from the very beginning to meet caring people and professionals among medical workers who will competently and easily explain to you about the importance of treatment, support, instill confidence in the future.

Patients of the AIDS center of our northern region with medical staff were lucky. Really attentive and responsive people work here.  One of them, my nurse – Nadezhda Alekseevna Tsel, who has been with me since the very beginning of the disease

and he has been leading me for more than ten years. This is not just a nurse with extensive experience in medicine (only in the AIDS center she has been working for

30 years old), this is a man with a big heart. It feels like this is a medic who really loves his job and sees his vocation in helping people. She is sincerely interested in the treatment to bring good results, sparing no time and effort, explains to her patients about the importance of therapy, because not everyone immediately understands this – someone has to be literally persuaded to start treatment, and with someone you just need to talk humanly and adjust. And at such moments it is important that you are not judged, not moralized, but sincerely wanted to help. And Nadezhda Alekseevna is just such a person.

The work she does often goes beyond her immediate responsibilities. People living with HIV have to take tests periodically – she calls her patients, reminds them of the need for an examination.

Nadezhda Alekseevna is always in touch, will listen and help. I have had situations more than once when I had to contact her even on issues not related to treatment, and she always tries to help. I am glad that we have developed a very warm and trusting relationship with our nurse. Very attentive, responsive, pleasant woman, caring person.

Many thanks to my nurse and all the medical staff of the North Kazakhstan AIDS Center for their hard work and caring. I wish them well-being in their families, success at work and, of course, good health!

Sincerely Alena Gavrilova (first and last name changed at the request of the patient, any coincidences are accidental).
