Youth and HIV: Meeting Held in Kokshetau Between the HIV Prevention Center and Youth Health Centers

On September 28, 2026, an interdepartmental meeting was held in Kokshetau between the Akmola Regional HIV Prevention Center and the Youth Health Centers at the City Polyclinic and Panacea Clinic LLP. The meeting focused on HIV and sexually transmitted infection (STI) prevention, as well as further development of joint preventive efforts among young people.  The meeting was opened by Saule Zhakanova, Deputy Chief Physician of the HIV Center. During the meeting, Asel Baltabayeva, Head of the Prevention Department, presented the current HIV situation in Akmola Region and spoke about approaches to information and educational work on HIV and STIs among adolescents and young people. Representatives of the Youth Health Centers, Zhibek Alieva and Ulpan Amanbayeva, shared their experience and highlighted key challenges in preventive work with young people.  The specialists discussed further cooperation between the HIV Center and Youth Health Centers, identified key areas for joint work, and considered approaches to organizing preventive activities for adolescents and young people.Joint efforts by the HIV Center and Youth Health Centers will help strengthen cooperation among specialists and expand preventive work with young people, making reliable information about HIV, STIs, testing, and maintaining good health more accessible.
