Specialists from the Shymkent State Public Institution "AIDS Prevention and Control Center" held a meeting and discussion with the public at the Shymkent State Institution "Center for Social Adaptation of Persons in Difficult Life Situations" of the Department of Employment and Social Protection of the City of Shymkent, as well as a seminar with the institution's medical staff, with the aim of preventing HIV infection and promoting a healthy lifestyle.

The Center for Social Adaptation of Persons in Difficult Life Situations, under the jurisdiction of the Department of Employment and Social Protection of the city of Shymkent, provides services to adult citizens without a fixed abode, without identification documents, as well as to citizens on probation.
The seminar discussed HIV prevention and key risk factors among the population (safe behavior, sexual literacy, medical screenings, and healthy lifestyles). The importance of protecting people living with HIV from discrimination and stigma was also emphasized.
Additionally, specialists met with residents of the facility and held discussions. Information leaflets on HIV prevention were distributed and information about HIV infection was provided. Rapid testing to detect HIV antigens and antibodies using fourth-generation test systems was also offered to anyone wishing to know their HIV status. This allowed residents to obtain test results within 20 minutes.
Residents of the facility were given doctors' business cards so they could get answers to their HIV-related questions or receive specialist consultations. They were also informed about the possibility of contacting "Trust Points." To raise awareness about HIV issues, the facility was provided with informational posters on HIV prevention for display on the walls.
A. Pernebaeva, a physician at the facility, expressed her gratitude to the AIDS Center specialists: "We express our gratitude to the AIDS Center specialists for the useful seminar. Seminars are not just educational events, but a systematic tool for creating a safe medical environment, early diagnosis, and improving patients' quality of life. The information we discussed was very valuable and important to us. Your professionalism, support, and experience are of great benefit to society. We wish you success in your work informing and supporting people."
At the conclusion of the seminar, AIDS Center specialists noted that the principles of a healthy lifestyle and shared responsibility for one's own health should become the main principle both in healthcare and in the daily lives of the population.
Furthermore, for the convenience of newcomers to the facility, it was proposed to sign a memorandum under which AIDS Center specialists would come on-site to conduct rapid testing and outreach.
