The Regional HIV Prevention Center under the Health Department of Zhetysu Region held a working meeting with representatives of the Youth Health Center of the Taldykorgan City Polyclinic, as well as specialists from city and district education departments.

During the meeting, current issues related to the prevention of HIV infection and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) among adolescents and young people were discussed. The participants reviewed effective approaches to conducting information and awareness-raising activities in educational institutions, discussed ways to improve preventive efforts, and outlined a joint action plan for the upcoming period.
M. Matembayeva, Head of the Preventive Work Department, noted that since the beginning of 2026, the department’s specialists have implemented a comprehensive range of preventive activities in educational institutions across the Zhetysu Region. Preventive measures have covered 11 secondary schools, 14 colleges, and 1 higher education institution. A total of 1,400 pupils and students, as well as 554 teachers, have been reached through information and awareness-raising activities.
