Open Day at the AIDS Center in Almaty

On May 29, the Open Day was held at the Center for the Prevention and Control of AIDS in Almaty, which became an important part of educational work and open dialogue between medical specialists and parents.

Participants were able to learn more about the activities of the institution, modern methods of diagnosis, treatment and prevention
As part of the event, specialists held mini-trainings and informational conversations with parents on HIV prevention. Doctors talked about the most common myths related to HIV, explained the ways of transmission of infection, protective measures. Medical workers examined young patients and gave recommendations to parents. Doctors answered parents' questions, provided psychological and informational support, and also explained the possibilities of modern therapy that allows people with HIV to lead a full and active life.
For people living with HIV, appointments were organized by specialized specialists - a dermatologist, infectious disease specialist and phthisiatrician. Patients were able to receive the necessary recommendations for treatment, prevention of concomitant diseases and further medical supervision.
