In accordance with the schedule of monitoring visits to healthcare organizations, A. Karipkhanova, an epidemiologist of the Epidemiological Department of the Municipal State Enterprise on the Right of Economic Management “Regional Center for HIV Prevention” of the Health Department of Zhetysu Region, conducted a seminar for healthcare workers of the Municipal State Enterprise on the Right of Economic Management “Regional Tuberculosis Dispensary”.
During the seminar, participants were provided with up-to-date information on HIV transmission routes, modern prevention measures, diagnostic methods, and the epidemiological situation regarding HIV infection in the Zhetysu Region. Particular attention was paid to the issues of early detection of HIV infection, compliance with infection prevention and control measures, and increasing the professional awareness of healthcare workers.
The main objective of the event was to enhance healthcare workers’ awareness of HIV infection, promote a responsible attitude toward public health protection, and reduce stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV.
The seminar was held in the format of an open dialogue and active professional discussion. Participants discussed current issues of HIV prevention, received answers to their questions, and exchanged practical experience. Information and educational materials were distributed to all attendees.
During the meeting, A. Karipkhanova reminded participants of the importance of timely HIV testing of patients based on clinical and epidemiological indications in accordance with the Order of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated November 27, 2020, No. KR DSM-211/2020 “On Approval of the Rules for Mandatory Confidential Medical Examination for HIV Infection”.
