A meeting on the topic «Results of joint work of the HIV Center and non-governmental organizations in 2025» with the participation of NGO representatives was held at the Center for HIV Prevention of the Akimat of Astana.
Denis Panchenko, Acting Director of the HIV Center, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. In his speech, he noted the importance of intersectoral cooperation and the key role of non-governmental organizations in implementing prevention programs and ensuring their accessibility to key populations.
Aizhan Zhailaubayeva, Head of the Department of Preventive Work, made a report on the results of preventive work for 2025, the main achievements and problematic issues.
Representatives of non-governmental organizations presented the results of the implementation of projects within the framework of grants from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, as well as the state social order of the Astana City Public Health Department. The results of preventive work among key population groups were reviewed.
During the discussion, special attention was paid to evaluating the effectiveness of implemented measures, analyzing problematic issues and making suggestions for improving prevention programs.
«Non-governmental organizations are important guides to key populations, providing a significant share of regional coverage, testing, and access to pre-exposure prevention. Most cases of HIV infection identified on the basis of NGOs are diagnosed at the initial treatment stage, which confirms the expediency of a strategy to expand primary coverage», D. Panchenko emphasized.
At the end of the meeting, the participants discussed indicators of preventive work among key population groups for 2026, exchanged practical experience and developed recommendations for further development of cooperation. Following the meeting, readiness was expressed to strengthen intersectoral cooperation aimed at reducing the spread of HIV infection and improving the quality of preventive services in Astana.
