Students at Prestige College learned a wealth of new information and HIV protection measures at an interactive lecture on January 15th.
The lecture was delivered by medical specialists from the Almaty AIDS Prevention and Control Center. The doctors explained in accessible terms the routes of transmission and measures to protect against the virus.
The meeting focused on debunking common myths about HIV. The specialists emphasized that the virus is not transmitted through handshakes, hugs, sharing utensils, or casual contact, which helps reduce unfounded fear and stigma.
Students were taught the importance of responsible behavior and a mindful attitude toward their health. The doctors reminded students that the use of personal protective equipment and regular medical examinations significantly reduces the risk of STI transmission.
During the lecture, students learned about modern methods of diagnosing and treating HIV. It was noted that with timely detection and appropriate treatment, people living with HIV can lead full and active lives.
The interactive format of the event allowed students to ask questions and receive detailed answers from specialists. This dialogue facilitated better information retention and improved literacy.
