HIV prevention - It is important to know your HIV status!

             On November 27, 2025, as part of the Global AIDS Campaign under the slogan «From challenges to transformations in response to HIV», specialists from the Center for HIV Prevention of the Astana city Akimat conducted a large-scale rapid HIV testing campaign for employees and visitors of the Astana Shopping Center.

              The main purpose of the event is to raise public awareness about HIV infection, to emphasize the importance of prevention and the importance of timely screening. The organizers reminded residents that it is better to prevent than treat any disease, and early diagnosis plays an important role in maintaining health.

              «Today, it is especially important that everyone has reliable information about the ways of transmission and measures to prevent HIV infection. Knowledge and a responsible attitude to one's health help protect not only oneself, but also one's loved ones,» noted the epidemiologists of the HIV Center.

              Rapid HIV testing with mandatory pre- and post-test counseling was organized for everyone. Many participants expressed interest in the survey, noting the convenience and accessibility of the format, and received professional answers to questions related to personal prevention and health care.

              In addition to testing, visitors to the event were offered information materials, memos and booklets on modern approaches to HIV prevention. An important element of the campaign was also an open dialogue aimed at reducing stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV.
