November 27, 2025

From 10 November to 10 December, Kazakhstan is holding the national information campaign “From Challenges to Transformations in the HIV Response.” As part of this campaign, specialists from the Atyrau Regional Centre for HIV Prevention organized an innovative meeting for students of Kh. Dosmukhamedov University — an HIV-themed event.

The purpose of the event was to provide open and accurate information about HIV, dispel myths, and promote responsible attitudes toward health among young people.

Held in an informal and engaging setting, the event encouraged students to freely ask questions and receive honest, evidence-based answers from HIV specialists.

The programme included:

Quizzes and interactive games

Expert advice

Answers to the most frequently asked questions about HIV

Discussion of common myths, such as “Can HIV be transmitted through a mosquito bite?”

Specialists spoke about the modes of HIV transmission, effective prevention methods, and the importance of early HIV testing. Students were particularly interested in the opportunity to undergo free and confidential HIV testing. During the event, several participants took a rapid HIV test and received individual counselling.

The HIV-themed event provided a creative and accessible platform for young people to focus on this important issue. The open dialogue, relaxed atmosphere, and interactive format helped participants better understand and retain accurate information about HIV.
