Leading Experts to Discuss HIV Innovations in Almaty

On 2 December 2025, Almaty will host the International Scientific and Practical Conference “HIV: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow”. The event is organized as part of the information campaign dedicated to World AIDS Day, marked annually on 1 December, under the theme “From Challenges to Transformations in the HIV Response.”

The conference is organized by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kazakh Scientific Centre for Dermatology and Infectious Diseases (KSCID), and the Public Association “Society of Dermatovenereologists, Dermatocosmetologists and Leprologists.” This event marks an important step towards enhancing modern approaches to HIV and sexually transmitted infection (STI) prevention.

Participants will include representatives from the Ministry of Health, governmental and non-governmental organizations, and international partners such as WHO, UNAIDS, CDC, and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

Speakers include:

Roza Kuanyshbekova, MD, Professor, Director of the Kazakh Scientific Centre for Dermatology and Infectious Diseases, Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan;

Stela Bivol, Head of the Infectious Diseases Department, WHO, Denmark;

Eamonn Murphy, UNAIDS Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific and for Eastern Europe and Central Asia;

Tsovinar Sakinian, Portfolio Manager for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

The conference aims to serve as an effective platform for sharing experience and best practices in HIV prevention and the control of dermatovenereological diseases.
