✍????  A briefing was held in the Astana Communications Service with the participation of Kanat Askarov, Director of the HIV Prevention Center, on World AIDS Day.

✅ The events of the Global Campaign under the motto «Leadership for Communities» will provide another opportunity to recognize the key role of communities in the HIV response at the international and national levels.

✅ Communities are an alliance of non-governmental organizations, civil society activists and volunteers who have been making a great contribution to the fight against AIDS for many years and are actively involved in countering the HIV epidemic. After all, communities ensure interconnection with key population groups and their access to professional services.

✅ The Urban HIV Center, in order to prevent the spread of HIV, to expand access to prevention, care and support services for key population groups and people living with HIV, implements a set of measures to curb the spread of HIV.

✅ The Department of Public Health, with the support of the Mayor's Office of Astana, has allocated a State social order for 2022-2023 aimed at HIV prevention among key population groups. Within the framework of these projects, we cooperate with 3 NGOs providing preventive services to key population groups.

✅ The epidemiological situation of HIV infection in Astana is stable. As a result of the ongoing systemic preventive measures, the situation regarding the prevalence of HIV infection is being maintained, according to the World Health Organization, at a concentrated stage.

✅ We would like to note that the main goal of the Global Campaign is to remind the population of the importance of HIV prevention, to draw public attention to social protection and respect for the rights of people living with HIV.
