On November 22, 2023, representatives of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (Switzerland, Geneva) - Senior Portfolio Manager of the Global Fund for Eastern Europe and Central Asia Tatiana Vinichenko, Regional Manager for Monitoring and Evaluation and Public Health of the Global Fund for Countries visited the Center for HIV Prevention in Astana Eastern Europe and Central Asia David Kokiashvili and Director of the RSE at the «Kazakh Scientific Center of Dermatology and Infectious Diseases of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan» Bauyrzhan Baiserkin.

The purpose of the visit is to get acquainted with the implementation of the GFATM grant in Astana and with the achievements in the field of state financing of preventive programs in the form of a state social order.

During the visit, they visited the NGOs «Step into the Future», «Life in Spite» and «Human Health Institute», discussed joint work with AIDS service NGOs, the implementation of comprehensive HIV prevention and treatment programs in accordance with WHO and UNAIDS recommendations.

The director of the HIV Center of Astana, K.Askarov, shared with the guests about the results of the work carried out, about the implementation of the UNAIDS 95-95-95 strategy, "In Astana, 90% of people living with HIV know about their HIV status, 87% of people diagnosed with HIV infection receive ART and 82% have the effectiveness of therapy, A pre-contact prevention program has also been successfully implemented among key population groups, compared to last year, the number of clients who received PREP has increased 5.6 times, the coverage of viral hepatitis C treatment among PLHIV has increased to 85 percent, he noted.
