Good news for people covered by the Compulsory Social Health Insurance (CSHI)Starting from 2026, insured individuals will be able to retain their CSHI status even if they temporarily stop making contributions.
From 1 January 2026, citizens who have paid CSHI contributions for at least five years will keep their insured status for six months, even in the event of a temporary payment interruption.
These changes are especially important for those who: — have lost their job — are looking for new employment — are facing temporary financial difficulties.
Previously, the insured status was retained for only three months. The new regulation allows continued access to health services within the CSHI system, even in the absence of temporary income.
Once income is restored, individuals will be required to pay the outstanding contributions for the missed months as self-paying participants.

“Path to Safety” Campaign Held in PetropavlovskA social information campaign titled “Path to Safety” was held at the Rakhmet Shopping Center in Petropavlovsk in the format of an open consultation for city residents. Specialists from the North Kazakhstan Regional Center for HIV Prevention took part in the event.
The campaign, organized by the Municipal State Institution “Youth Resource Center of the City of Petropavlovsk,” was conducted within the framework of the national program “Law and Order” and aimed to improve the legal and social awareness of the population.
Specialists of the Regional Center for HIV Prevention, Assiya Sharipova and Raushan Yeserkenova, provided consultations to people of various age groups on HIV prevention issues. City residents also received consultations on social protection, banking services, cybercrime prevention, psychological support, and legal assistance.
The campaign involved specialists from the following organizations:
Municipal State Institution “Youth Resource Center of the City of Petropavlovsk”;
Center for Analysis and Development of Interfaith Relations;
JSC “Otbasy Bank”;
Cybercrime Prevention Department;
North Kazakhstan Regional Center for HIV Prevention.
Informational brochures were prepared and distributed to visitors. A total of 70 brochures were handed out.
Oksana Simukhina, a representative of the North Kazakhstan Regional Center for HIV Prevention, noted: “Most of our activities are traditionally aimed at adolescents and young people. However, such campaigns make it possible to reach the adult population, provide important information, and answer their questions directly.”
Holding open consultations contributes to strengthening the prevention of offenses and increasing public awareness of personal and public safety and health measures.

Choosing Health: HIV Prevention Among YouthOn December 17, 2025, in the Karasai District, in the village of Zhibek Zholy, an information and educational seminar titled “Youth for Health and a Future Without HIV!” was held for students of grades 8–11 at the secondary schools named after B. Momyshuly, A. Baitursynuly, and Y. Altynsarin.
A total of 722 students and 46 teachers took part in the seminar.
During the meeting, students were provided with detailed and accessible information about the routes of HIV transmission, ways to reduce the risk of infection, sexually transmitted infections, as well as the importance of timely testing and developing a responsible attitude toward their own health.
The main goal of the event was to foster among adolescents a reliable, open, and informed understanding of issues related to HIV and other infectious diseases. As global experience shows, knowledge and awareness are the most effective tools for prevention.
Special attention was given to dispelling myths about HIV. “HIV infection has no social boundaries — it can affect anyone. Therefore, it is crucial to cultivate a responsible attitude toward health among adolescents, develop safe behavior skills, and increase awareness of reproductive and mental health issues,” emphasized N. Kassymov, an epidemiologist at the AIDS Center.
HIV prevention is a shared responsibility of the healthcare and education systems, parents, and young people themselves. Such events in the Almaty Region contribute to raising adolescents’ awareness and fostering strong motivation to maintain good health.

Currently, about 3.6 million people in Kazakhstan do not participate in the Mandatory Social Health Insurance (MSHI) system.Of these, around 1 million people fall into crisis and emergency levels of social vulnerability and are unable to pay contributions on their own. Starting from January 1, 2026, contributions to MSHI for these citizens will be paid by local executive authorities. As a result, they will be insured and will be able to receive the necessary medical care under the MSHI system.
In addition, local budgets will take over the responsibility of paying contributions for officially registered unemployed individuals. Previously, payments for them were made from the national (republican) budget.
Please note that insured individuals are entitled to the following services free of charge: diagnostics, consultations with doctors, planned surgeries, treatment, rehabilitation, and more. To receive medical care, it is necessary to be registered with a polyclinic at the place of residence.

The event summarized the results of the 2025 Global AIDS Campaign and presented the current epidemiological situation regarding HIV infection in the region. The speakers were Aktilek Umirbayev, Director of the Regional Center for HIV Prevention, and Almagul Mantakova, Deputy Director.

Ceremonial Meeting in Honor of Independence Day of the Republic of KazakhstanIndependence Day of Kazakhstan is the main national holiday of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It is celebrated annually on December 16.
Over the past three and a half decades, the country has undergone an enormous and challenging path of development—from a transition economy to a modern sovereign state.
On the eve of Independence Day, a ceremonial meeting of the staff was held at the KNC DIZ. Congratulatory remarks were delivered to the staff by R. T. Kuanyshbekova, Director of the KNC DIZ. Participants were also introduced to a historical overview of the formation of the independent state.
The employees of the KNC DIZ unanimously noted that for every citizen of Kazakhstan, Independence Day embodies the brightest aspirations for freedom and prosperity, friendship and harmony, and the progressive development of all spheres of Kazakhstani society.

Large-Scale Awareness Campaign Held in Turkistan at the “Khanshaiym Plaza” ComplexA large-scale campaign dedicated to World AIDS Day has concluded in Turkistan Region. As part of the initiative, an information and awareness event was held at one of the city’s largest shopping and entertainment centers, Khanshaiym Plaza, aimed at increasing public awareness about HIV.
The event was organized by specialists from the Turkistan Regional Center for HIV Prevention, in partnership with the administration of the shopping and entertainment complex.
An interactive information booth was set up in the central hall, where visitors could obtain up-to-date information about HIV transmission, prevention methods, and the importance of regular HIV testing.
Experts from the Center answered visitors’ questions about modern approaches to HIV prevention and helped to dispel myths and misconceptions surrounding HIV. One of the key components of the campaign was the opportunity to undergo free and confidential rapid HIV testing. The procedure took only a few minutes, and each participant received their results individually and confidentially.
As a pleasant addition, sweets were distributed to participants who took the HIV test. Specialists also provided information on comprehensive HIV testing and where to access professional medical and psychosocial support if needed.
The organizers emphasized that holding such activities in public spaces helps raise awareness, engage a wider audience, and reduce stigma and discrimination related to HIV.

“The Right to Know: HIV Without Stereotypes”Results announced for the journalists’ contest “The Right to Know: HIV Without Stereotypes.”
The Kazakh National Center for Infectious Disease Control (KNCIDC) and the Kazakhstan Union of People Living with HIV, within the framework of an information campaign dedicated to World AIDS Day under the UNAIDS slogan “From Challenges to Change in the HIV Response,” held a national contest among journalists from national and regional media outlets for the best coverage of issues related to HIV prevention and testing.
The aim of the contest was to encourage journalists who contribute to raising public awareness about HIV, promoting early testing and HIV prevention, and supporting responsible journalism that fosters a culture of tolerance and respect for people living with HIV.
