Seminar on HIV prevention in a medical and health complex

According to the schedule of activities on the prevention of HIV infection, doctors of the Center for the Prevention and Control of AIDS of the Almaty region held a seminar for employees of the treatment and health complex of «Baqsy» LLP, located in the village. Kargaly, Zhambyl district, Almaty region.

Doctors familiarized participants with the main regulatory documents of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan for organizing work in medical and sanatorium-resort organizations on HIV testing in accordance with the “Rules for compulsory medical examination for clinical and epidemiological indications.” The trainers spoke about the features of psychosocial counseling and testing, clinical features of HIV treatment, and basic antiretroviral therapy regimens. The employees of the complex listened to information about ways of contracting HIV infection, prevention methods, and also had the opportunity to ask their own questions.Issues of stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV, the actions of health workers in case of emergencies, and ethics in relation to patients with HIV were also raised. All employees of the health complex noted that only a tolerant attitude towards people living with HIV can eradicate the stigma associated with HIV infection.The seminar was attended by employees from all shifts, the total number of which was 70 people.
