2.07.1950 -18.01.2025
Isidora Bekmukhamedovna Yerasilova, a well-known doctor in Kazakhstan, a healthcare organizer, and an HIV medicine specialist, died at the age of 75.
Yerasilova I.B. graduated from the Medical Faculty of the Almaty State Medical Institute in 1974 and received a degree in surgery.
from1974 to 1986, she worked first as a surgeon, and then as an anesthesiologist and intensive care physician, head of the intensive care unit in Chu, Dzhambul region.
Since 1986, I.B. Yerasilova began working as an anesthesiologist and intensive care physician in Almaty, in the system of medical institutions of the RSE "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy". As an experienced and knowledgeable specialist, from 1992 to 2003 She was the head of the Department of Anesthesiology at the Central Clinical Hospital of the RSE "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy".
It is no exaggeration to say that many patients who were treated in the intensive care and surgical departments of the railway Hospital owe their lives to her. Possessing a firm and determined character, extensive practical experience, masterfully performing various medical manipulations, Isidora Bekmukhamedovna could instantly choose the right treatment tactics and quickly help patients in the most difficult situations.
At the same time, I.B. Yerasilova's outstanding organizational abilities manifested themselves, and she accepted the offer to radically change the direction of her professional activity.
In 2003, Isidora Bekmukhamedovna became the head of the Republican Center for the Prevention and Control of AIDS and worked as the General Director of this institution until 2006.
She had a rare ability to look into the distance, to foresee the necessity and expediency of any activity, to organize the work of the team so that the best qualities of the employee were revealed.
Without suppressing or imposing her opinion, but encouraging her to act, the CEO was able to clearly formulate the task. She was able to see the potential in a person and helped to unlock it. She was pragmatic and courageous in making decisions. A team of medical specialists was quickly formed. The Director General did her best to promote their training in the field of HIV medicine at the international level. Constant cooperation was also established with International and non-governmental organizations.
It is under the leadership of Isidora Bekmukhamedovna that the life-saving etiotropic treatment of HIV infection, antiretroviral therapy, has been successfully carried out in Kazakhstan since 2005. Since then, the diagnosis of "HIV infection" has lost the meaning of a death sentence, and the disease itself has become incurable (for now), but amenable to successful treatment.
This outstanding event in providing care to patients with HIV infection took place in Kazakhstan earlier than in other CIS countries, and specialists from Kazakhstan began to transfer their experience to colleagues from other countries.
Later, continuing her work in HIV medicine, I.B. Yerasilova (from 2004 to 2018) headed the National Association of AIDS Service Organizations of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In 2008-2009, she was an expert on the Evaluation of youth-friendly clinics at the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
Later, remaining a doctor with extensive clinical experience, since 2007, Isidora Bekmukhamedovna worked as an expert at the National Scientific Center of Surgery named after A.N. Syzganov, then the Research Institute of Cardiology and Internal Diseases of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and later other leading medical centers in Almaty.
Throughout her career in medicine, I.B.Erasilova has shown her outstanding qualities of high professionalism, honesty, decency, fairness, and sensitivity to people.
Everyone who knew Isidora Bekmukhamedovna will always have a bright memory of a wonderful person, doctor, and colleague.
