There is a new director of UNAIDS in Kazakhstan

Eleonora Gvozdeva, the new Country Director of UNAIDS, was introduced on January 14 at the CNDDIS.

Prior to her appointment as the Country Director of UNAIDS, Ms. Gvozdeva served as the Adviser for the UNAIDS Regional programmes for Eastern Europe and Central Asia from 2018 to 2024. In this role, her portfolio included:

- Planning, monitoring and reporting on programs at the regional and country levels;

- Improving the efficiency of UNAIDS;

- development of cooperation with cosponsors and donors;

-Building partnerships with Governments and civil society;

- Resource mobilization; and provision of technical support.

Ms. Gvozdeva also served as a Strategic Information Adviser to UNAIDS in Ukraine (2013-2018) and Country Director of UNAIDS in Belarus (2006-2013). In these positions, she led the work of UNAIDS in supporting the implementation of national AIDS programmes. Prior to joining the UNAIDS Secretariat in 2006, Ms. Gvozdeva held key positions in UNICEF and UNDP.

He holds two master's degrees: in political science and in environmental Policy. His native language is Belarusian, and he is fluent in English and Russian, as well as Italian and French. She is married and has two children.

At the meeting, the new Country Director of UNAIDS and the staff of CNDDIS discussed the priorities of joint work.
