From October 28 to November 11, 2024, training seminars were held in Kyzylorda organized by the Kazakhstan Medical University “VSHO” on the implementation of the Road Map «On the implementation of measures to prevent HIV infection in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2023-2026».
An infectious disease doctor with 10 years of experience, a master’s degree, Makhmutova Saniyam Masimzhanovna, was invited as a speaker from the Almaty Regional AIDS Center. The seminars were held in a hybrid format (online - offline). Doctor of Medical Sciences, professor, infectious disease specialist - Doskozhaeva S.T. were also invited as lecturers. and doctor of the highest category, candidate of medical sciences - Petrova N.P.
The training seminars were conducted in 2 languages. The first week was spent at the Central City Clinic of Kyzylorda on the topic “Training on the prevention of HIV transmission from mother to child, syphilis and hepatitis B, C.” The participants of the training were obstetrician-gynecologists, epidemiologists, nursing staff, in particular midwives of the antenatal clinic. In addition to lecture materials, there was work in groups to solve situational problems. During the training days, issues such as the epidemiological situation of HIV in the world and Kazakhstan, the etiology of the origin of HIV, and the prevention of HIV infection were discussed. Rights and responsibilities of people living with HIV. HIV emergencies: post-exposure and pre-exposure prophylaxis. The influence of chronic hepatitis C and syphilis on the course of pregnancy.
In the second week of training, it was held at a multidisciplinary regional hospital in the Kyzylorda region on the topic “Stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV and key populations.” More than 100 medical staff from all over the region took part in the seminar: cardiologists, pediatricians, neonatologists, epidemiologists, GPs, psychologists and nursing staff participated.
