Regional Meeting on HIV and Tuberculosis

On November 24-25, Kazakh specialists took part in the regional meeting "HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis in Eastern Europe and Central Asia".

The participants, together with representatives of international organizations, including the Global Fund, WHO, Stop Tuberculosis Partnership, UNAIDS, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the Elton John AIDS Foundation and others, discussed the situation with HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis in Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA) and responses.

Active discussions were caused by the following topics:

-Progress and challenges in the implementation of HIV and tuberculosis programs;

-Progress in achieving the UNAIDS goal "95-95-95";

-introduction/expansion of pre-contact prevention.

The regional meeting presented Kazakhstan's experience in overcoming challenges in the post-crisis period and progress in improving tuberculosis treatment, as well as on viable and sustainable systems for preserving health.

The participants identified the priorities of the Global Fund strategy and the strategy in the EECA region for the period 2023-2025, including investment on viable and sustainable systems for preserving health, and also discussed the processes of applying for funding: the main changes and key points.
