On November 11, at the Kazakh Scientific Center of Dermatology and Infectious Diseases, a meeting was held with the co-director of the Center for the Study of Global Health in Central Asia (CIG), Professor of the School of Social Work at Columbia University, Dr. Louise Gilbert on the Bridge project.

The four-year research project "BRIDGE" - "Improving access of vulnerable population groups to HIV prevention, diagnosis and treatment services in Kazakhstan" was implemented in Kazakhstan in 2016-2020 in Almaty, Shymkent, Temirtau and Karaganda on the basis of trust points located at polyclinics, regional/urban AIDS centers and non-governmental organizations. The aim of the study was to increase the coverage of people who inject drugs with HIV prevention, testing and treatment services.

Dr. Louise Gilbert noted the uniqueness of the implementation study, which was carried out in close cooperation with the CNDC and the territorial AIDS centers, and highly appreciated its results. Upon completion of the project, methodological recommendations were prepared: "ARTDU: Connecting people living with HIV to treatment and services", "On the provision of preventive health services in the Republic of Kazakhstan".

During the meeting, the director of KNCDIZ A. Abishev noted the value of this project and expressed interest in further spreading the experience of the Bridge project to other regions, as well as expanding the services received on the principle of one window (including methadone). He drew attention to the need to disseminate the prepared methodological recommendations by conducting training events for specialists of AIDS centers and PHC workers using existing training platforms.

The participants of the meeting agreed to continue cooperation on this issue.
