November 4, 2022

From November 1 to November 4, the autumn camp "ASHYK KATYSU" for children and adolescents living with HIV was held at the Tau-Kuni children's health camp, located 20 minutes' drive from Almaty, in the foothills of the Ile-Alatau Reserve.

The event was held within the framework of the project "Strengthening life skills, leadership and communication competencies and providing psychosocial support to adolescents living with HIV in Kazakhstan".  It is organized by the Public Association "Equal to Equal Plus" with the support of the representative office of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Kazakhstan.

Adolescents, together with parents and guardians, increased their knowledge of stigma and self-stigma in the context of HIV, rights to education, disclosure of HIV status and confidentiality, and also strengthened various life skills, including the creation of groups for psychosocial support. The camp format was integrative and included online and offline modes. Children from the regions could join the training sessions.

90 teenagers from 11 regions of the country were charged with new knowledge, skills, energy, found friends. And there were also many guests in the camp, with whom an interesting conversation took place. One of them is a popular actor, the main character of the series "Patient Zero" Askar Ilyasov, who warmly admonished the guys :

- There are always opportunities, each of you has a huge potential, choose the best, strive for your dream, believe in yourself and you will succeed!

The camp is over, the participants have the best impressions.
