Center health worker: latest generation tests used to diagnose HIV by express method Action on express testing among youth in Kokshetau

September 15, 2022

On September 15, 2022, an action for rapid testing of youth was held at the Panacea student polyclinic in Kokshetau.

A paratrooper of medical workers from the Akmola Regional AIDS Center set up a point for express testing and counseling on HIV infection in one of the clinic's rooms.

t should be noted that young people participated in the event with interest, because it was possible to find out their HIV status literally on the spot, within 20 minutes, and get advice from the center’s health workers about risk factors for infection and prevention, serological period, treatment of people living with HIV, other issues related to HIV infection.

Ayzada Mukanova, a nurse at the trust point, says that fourth-generation test systems are used for rapid HIV testing, designed to simultaneously qualitatively detect p24 antigen and antibodies to HIV in human capillary blood, which makes it possible to detect the virus earlier, even during the “seronegative window”.

Recall that the “seronegative window” or serological period is the time from the moment of infection until the appearance of antibodies to HIV in the blood, which can last from 2 weeks to 3 months.
