Summer camp for teenagers

From August 16 to 21, with the support of Johnson & Johnson and the Kazakh Scientific Center for Dermatology and Infectious Diseases of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a republican summer camp for adolescents with chronic HIV infection was held in the Tau Turan sanatorium in the picturesque gorge of the Zailiyskiy Alatau.

The organization of a summer camp is already a traditional event. Even during the quarantine period, teenagers met, replenished their knowledge and skills, however, online.

The participants of the current camp were 80 people from Akmola, Almaty, East Kazakhstan, Zhambyl, Karaganda, Kyzylorda, Turkestan regions, as well as the cities of Almaty and Shymkent.

Professional trainers conducted classes with the children on adherence to antiretroviral therapy, disclosure of status, stigma and discrimination, and human rights. The participants completed a useful and interesting course of the international Dance4life program on understanding oneself, personal boundaries, building relationships with other people and society, recognizing and preventing violence, and gender equality.

And, of course, everyone took part in mountain hikes, a sports quest, and various competitions with pleasure. And there was also a disco and a closing concert prepared by our own efforts and talents.

Great impressions, positive emotions, new acquaintances, useful knowledge - everything is in the piggy bank of the future!
