Meeting on the National Strategy to Combat Viral Hepatitis in Kazakhstan

On May 21, in Nur-Sultan, KSCDIZ, in partnership with the CDA Foundation (USA) and the Research Institute of Virology of the Republic of Uzbekistan, held a meeting on the national strategy to combat viral hepatitis in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

 

Representatives of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan - B. Bayserkin and Z. Akhmetova spoke with welcoming words about the importance of the problem. The participants discussed the work carried out by the Project Implementation Unit (PI) on modeling the cost-effectiveness associated with the elimination of HBV and HCV in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Members of the GR: HomiRazavi (CDAF/USA), Devin Razavi (CDAF/USA), Shakhlo Sabirova (CDAF/CAR), Alexander Nersesov (KazNMU named after S.D. Asfendiyarov), Gulya Sarybaeva (KNTsDIZ).During the event, reports were discussed on the prevalence of viral hepatitis in the Republic of Kazakhstan, in key populations and the measures taken to prevent, epidemiological monitoring of these diseases in the general population and decreed groups.Presentations were made by representatives of the WHO European Office for HIV and Hepatitis (Nicole Simon Segui, Copenhagen), the Robert Koch Institute (Sandra Dudareva, Germany). The experience of conducting a pilot project on the elimination of viral hepatitis in the Republic of Uzbekistan was also presented (Shakhlo Sabirova, CDAF / CAR, Erkin Musabaev, Director of the Research Institute of Virology).During the meeting, the problems of interaction between healthcare organizations and the civil sector that oversee issues of viral hepatitis, population screening and regulations for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of HBV and HCV in the country were considered.At the end of the meeting, a decision was made to update the strategy for combating viral hepatitis, consistent with the goals of WHO - to eliminate hepatitis by 2030 and create a roadmap for subsequent years.The CDA Foundation is a non-profit organization working with over 130 countries/regions to eliminate viral hepatitis.
