From May 12 to May 13, 2022, four actions were held in Kokshetau, timed to coincide with the World Day of Remembrance of people who died of AIDS.

The main goal is to increase the level of knowledge of the population about the ways of transmission and measures to prevent HIV infection, to motivate people to get tested for HIV.

A mobile testing and counseling center was deployed on the territory of the Railway Station, the Central City Park and Market, and the embankment of Lake Kopa, where 96 people found out their HIV status and more than 200 received expert advice.

According to Assel Baltabayeva, an epidemiologist at the Akmola AIDS Center, this is not the first time that our center has carried out such actions, and it is very pleasing that the activity of the population has increased. For example, earlier, when holding actions, people, having heard the word “HIV infection”, tried to quickly move away from the specialists of the center, and sometimes they were even afraid to take informational material, but now the situation is completely different - the participants of the action show interest in the topic, ask questions and express themselves desire to be tested.
