Within the framework of the International Day of Remembrance of People who Died of AIDS, which is held this year under the slogan «We remember. We are acting. We are more than HIV», according to the initiative of the AIDS Center of Nur-Sultan with the support of the Mayor's Office of the capital, in the evening, on May 14, 2022, the monument «Baiterek» and the buildings of the shopping center «Khanshatyr» were illuminated in red.

The red ribbon, chosen more than 30 years ago as a symbol of the fight against the AIDS epidemic, has become a permanent symbol of support and solidarity with people affected by the HIV epidemic around the world.

Also, these days, videos on HIV prevention measures were broadcast on one of the tall buildings of the capital - the building of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC in order to raise awareness of residents. The main appeal of the Day of Remembrance of People who Died from AIDS is to draw public attention to HIV prevention, eliminate stigma, prevent discrimination against people living with HIV, expand access to antiretroviral treatment and medical care.
