Meeting of Ames project partners

On April 26-27, the AIDS Center in Almaty hosted a meeting of partners of the project "Almaty model for HIV epidemic control".

The event was attended by the representative of the Elton John AIDS Foundation Jake Rashbas, employees of the Center for AIDS prevention and control in Almaty, the Almaty regional AIDS Center, ICAP, the public foundations "rematch", "Community Friends" and the Central Asian Association of people living with HIV.

The participants discussed achievements, innovations and obstacles to the implementation of the project"Almaty model for HIV control". Within the framework of the project, priority areas of activity of the developed AIDS Center were identified:

-Pre-contact prevention of HIV infection.

-Online service for self-testing for HIV for the main groups of the population.

- Index testing of colleagues.

-Cooperation with NGOs.

These directions have a significant impact on the Prevention of HIV infection and the development of the epidemic as a whole. In the first quarter of this year, the coverage of people living with HIV in Almaty, who receive the viral burden through art studies, was 98.3%, the target figure was 95%. Also, the efficiency of art has significantly increased, which today is 91.1%.

The participants of the working meeting got acquainted with the work of the Office of the PF "Revenge" at the AIDS Center, where structured outreach work is carried out with drug users.
