Training for NGOs on Rapid HIV Testing

On April 15, in Almaty, 50 representatives of non-governmental public organizations implementing a grant from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria were trained in rapid HIV testing.

Non-governmental organizations are the resource through which the coverage of those tested for HIV is significantly increased, which means that control over the epidemic is also strengthened. At the same time, it is important that the testing process itself takes place with strict adherence to the algorithm.At the training, the participants got acquainted with the regulatory legal acts of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan on express testing, its role in anti-epidemic measures.Trainers - G. Tazhibayeva, Head of the Clinical Diagnostic Laboratory of KSCDIZ and A. Ongarbaev, an expert on HIV laboratory diagnostics, spoke in detail about HIV biological markers, types of rapid tests, and ways to ensure the quality of rapid testing.Particular emphasis on the training is placed on express testing of the perigingival fluid. Participants completed a practical session and received certificates at the end.
