We are preparing youth leaders

On April 5-7 in Almaty, at the colleges of railway transport and the Eurasian Techno-Economic, meetings were held to train youth leaders in HIV prevention among secondary school students.

In order to fulfill the indicator of the Roadmap for the implementation of the program "Zhastar Otanga" until 2025, the AIDS Center of Almaty, together with the public foundation "AFEW Kazakhstan", is training youth leaders in HIV prevention among secondary school students.

Previously prepared Champions of the @dance4life project.kz teach students, according to the principle of "Peer-to-peer", how to tell their peers about HIV prevention in the language of youth, that is, using interactive teaching methods such as dance, music, game exercises, drawing. But at the same time convey important information about what HIV is, how it is transmitted, what prevention methods exist, where to get tested for HIV and much more.

In colleges, the doctors of the AIDS Center told the children about the methods of preventing HIV infection. The champions conducted practical exercises: "Steps", "Business Card", "Travelers Agreement", "Cosmic Speed" and others. 32 students took part in the meetings. All participants were actively involved in the process and interested in what was happening.

As the Champions noted: "It was very cool and, of course, exciting. The guys are active, they really liked all the interactivity, they didn't sit on the phone, everyone listened, answered and actively participated."
